The work of the Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics Division (BIAA) is to deliver meaningful analytic solutions by bringing together data, systems, and people to enhance the work and lives of OHSU members and the communities we serve. The Clinical data engineer role is part of the clinical data team, part of a larger clinical business intelligence unit (CLBI) comprising analysts, engineers, administrators, and architects. This position is responsible for creating new clinical data warehousing solutions, data transformations, and data integration assets, as well as supporting changes, enhancements, and maintenance of existing assets in support of OHSU clinical data initiatives.

This position is responsible for creating new clinical data warehousing solutions, data transformations, and data integration assets, as well as supporting changes, enhancements, and maintenance of existing assets in support of OHSU clinical data initiatives. Primary duties will include, but are not limited to:
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including healthcare professionals, data architects, and IT specialists, to develop robust data pipelines, implement data quality controls, and generate insights to support clinical decision-making. The ideal candidate has a strong background in both data engineering and analytics, with a deep understanding of healthcare systems and clinical data standards.
This position will be developing primarily in the Epic Caboodle Console and Microsoft SQL Server tools. However, duties may extend to IBM DataStage, Azure Data Factory, and various business intelligence tools. Azure DevOps will be used for version control, code management, and code deployment. All development will observe the OHSU BIAA data governance policies and SDLC.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and six years of work-related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR
Associate’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and seven years of work-related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR
Eight years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associate’s degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree
