POSITION SUMMARY

The Information Technology Services department at Portland Community College is seeking an IT Manager to lead our Banner Team, which manages and supports the Banner information system and its related systems.  This individual will lead and work alongside a diverse and dedicated team of IT professionals to support and enable the College’s mission and goals by providing a secure, reliable, and powerful application environment on which all the College’s business can be conducted.  This is an opportunity to apply your technical and managerial skills to help improve students’ lives.

  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing technical staff to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Ability to align team activities with the organization's strategy and mission, promoting collaboration, accountability, and proactive problem-solving.
  • Proven track record of managing technical projects of varying sizes from inception to completion. Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders across different business areas to ensure project success and responsiveness during critical situations, while maintaining accountability and ownership of project outcomes.
  • Direct experience with large-scale enterprise resource planning systems (ERP), preferably in a higher education environment. Familiarity with ERP systems such as Workday, Ellucian Banner, or PeopleSoft, including configuration, implementation, maintenance, and the ability to address technical challenges, while prioritizing responsiveness and availability.
  • Strong ability to prioritize, plan, assign, complete, and document projects and tasks in a demanding environment with many stakeholders and limited resources. Proven track record of meeting deadlines, delivering high-quality results under pressure, and adapting quickly to changing priorities, while maintaining accountability and ownership of tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences. Experience liaising with external partners, such as vendors, to gather information, keep stakeholders informed, coordinate collaborative work, and manage expectations during critical situations.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze situations and provide leadership with appropriate analyses and recommendations. Proven ability to assess needs, recommend suitable products or solutions, and implement proactive measures to address organizational requirements during critical situations.
  • Direct experience managing major enterprise applications or playing a key role on the team. Familiarity with technologies and practices necessary to handle mission-critical systems effectively in challenging situations, while maintaining accountability and ownership of system reliability and security.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science discipline (Note: Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.0
  • Five years progressively responsible, professional information technology experience related to area of assignment
  • Two years of supervisory experience

Minimum $82,293 to range midpoint of $100,808. Placement will generally not exceed the mid-point, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
